My work explores the meeting place between our intricate inner life and what we encounter in our increasingly complex world; exploring the way that art can hold what words often can’t. Drawn to the tension between chaos and order, the ephemeral and the enduring, I think of my paintings as abstract narratives — part dream, part map.

Each artwork is built through a process of gestural mark making, intuitive mapping, and layering of materials; both obscuring and revealing form and meaning — echoing the way memory itself is constructed, deconstructed, and transformed over time. Through the interplay of texture, pattern, and narrative elements, I encourage viewers to look beneath the surface: to discover the quiet stories, hidden symbols, and shifting boundaries between what is seen and what is felt.

Ultimately, I hope you experience my art as an invitation:

to pause,

    It was uncertain whether the messenger had come to announce something remembered, something forgotten, or something yet to arrive.

    I once mistook ashes for endings. I have come to believe that fire remembers differently than water, leaving behind not absence, but the earliest traces of another beginning. I searched the embers for what had been lost and found very little. It was only by lingering that I began to notice what had quietly survived.

    Fragments of color, mark, and gesture, gather like weather patterns on an unseen map. Each piece traces a different orientation of the inner world. Intuition and emotion form their own shifting geography. Together, these works explore how we orient ourselves within the landscapes we carry inside. Inquire for detailed photos of individual works.

The Early Dream records: Maps of the EthereaL

In 30 years of dream journaling I have collected a LOT of dreams - and a lot of images.  Utilizing the concept of mapping the interior landscape I create images that embody the dreamscape. Inspired by the work of Hieronymus Bosch and the surrealist painting movement the following works recycle both concrete and unconscious materials. Mingling past and present dream images and using post consumer cardboard as canvas, found images mirror the way the unconscious recycles events, thoughts, and ideas and feeds them to us as images in our dreams. Images here serve not as exact replicas of the dream image, but instead evoke the feeling tone of a dream. Each artwork is inscribed with the dreams which inspired it. Here these works are conceived not as separate from my later work but as precursors; persistent dream-images that seem to precede the dreamer's conscious understanding of their significance.

Based on a recurring dream from childhood infused with a sense of being set upon a trajectory, it seemed that, at least for a time, anything was possible and every image filled with a sense of wonder.

The oldest folios tell of a dream that returned for many years.

A child crossed the night upon a black horse, carrying before her a great sphere. . .

. . . before a dreamer could enter the Inner Sea, she was sometimes entrusted with an image whose meaning would remain hidden from her for many years. Such images were called the First Dreams. They were not regarded as prophecies, nor were they meant to be deciphered.

Some dreams disappeared with childhood. Others returned. And when they did, the Keepers said only: “the way has remembered you.”

    The dream does not arrive in order. It gathers.

    Ancient myths and modern bodies converge in a dreamscape and somewhere among them, a little girl carries the impossible brightness of pure joy.

    This is not a map of a single dream, but of the dreaming mind itself. The work belongs to the territory where the psyche makes no distinction between memory and myth and everything becomes image. Everything becomes part of the story.

    Beyond the last province of memory lies a country for which no reliable map survives. Those who enter it are said to relinquish their histories gradually. And so, when one traveler could carry her history no farther, another sometimes carried it for her.
